7″ HID Install on Evan’s 73 Plymouth Duster

May 21st, 2009 by Evan (R&D)
The Duster with it's new HID's

73 Duster w/ HID's

Well I guess I should use this post to introduce myself. I’m Evan Grist, the new Research & Development guy at Electrosport.  I’ll be posting here on the blog as much as possible to keep you informed of the interesting projects going on here at Electrosport.

I figured I’d give you all an update on a recent  HID install. I recently traded my 1964 Plymouth Barracuda (built 318, 4speed with a Hurst shifter, very fast car!) for the 1973 Plymouth Duster you see above. It has an original 225ci slant six engine, and gets excellent mileage. However, it was sorely lacking in lighting output with the stock 7″ sealed beams, making driving at night a challenge to say the least.

Jeep Jeepster HID Sealed Beam Headlight Conversion

March 9th, 2009 by Eric (R&D)

Let’s face it, old jeeps are just plain cool.  Like any vehicle that has years of use on it, things get old and technology that once was state of the art becomes a relic of a bygone era.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of vintage stuff but, every once in a while something comes along that transforms the way that you see things.

When Pete from JP Magazine contacted us about doing a HID kit in his Jeep Jeepster to replace his original headlights, we jumped at the chance.  Pete is a complete Jeep addict with something like twelve or thirteen Jeeps.  He uses his Jeeps the way that they were meant to be used… hard.  He wanted bright lights but he also wanted to keep the original look.

Headlights on classic vehicles are anemic at best.  Sure, it is a step up from a whale oil lantern but not much of a step up.  I knew from my own classic cars over the years that Pete was in for a treat.  Moab is going to be fun this year…

How to Make Your Dirt Bike Street Legal

December 9th, 2008 by Scott (General Manager)

I wanted to let you all know about our new brief instructional video

How to Make Your Dirt Bike Street Legal”

YouTube Preview Image

We produced this video to show folks just how simple it is to convert their Dirt Bike into a Street Legal bike with the help of our popular Dakar Dual-Sport Kit:

This project was especially fun for us because it features two of our own ElectroSport Team Members actually performing the installation.   Trent and Marcus may look a little uncomfortable in front of the camera, but despite their apparent stage fright, the installation went smoothly and Trent was out cruising in no time J

If you are tired of having to trailer your Dirt Bike to the trailhead, check out our Dakar kits on the ElectroSport website by following this link: http://www.electrosport.com/dual-sport/dual-sport-kits.php#products_chart

We make the kit for nearly every popular model from Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha

If you are the type of guy who feels like “Great” isn’t good enough, you might also want to give us a call to learn about our brand new HID lighting option for our Dakar kits.  When you make the move to High Intensity Discharge Lighting (HID), you get 300% the light output of standard Halogen lighting but with the same 35watt electrical draw.  In addition, HID lights last four times longer than Halogen and are highly resistant to vibration, shock and heat.  If you want to see and be seen, Dakar is the way to go!  With HID, you can see farther and be seen sooner.
