7″ HID Install on Evan’s 73 Plymouth Duster
May 21st, 2009 by Evan (R&D)Well I guess I should use this post to introduce myself. I’m Evan Grist, the new Research & Development guy at Electrosport. I’ll be posting here on the blog as much as possible to keep you informed of the interesting projects going on here at Electrosport.
I figured I’d give you all an update on a recent HID install. I recently traded my 1964 Plymouth Barracuda (built 318, 4speed with a Hurst shifter, very fast car!) for the 1973 Plymouth Duster you see above. It has an original 225ci slant six engine, and gets excellent mileage. However, it was sorely lacking in lighting output with the stock 7″ sealed beams, making driving at night a challenge to say the least.
So Trent (Technical Sales) & I installed our 7″ Premium Sealed Beam HID Conversion Kit on the Duster, and the results are amazing!
Here is a quick overview of the easy installation, and the impressive results.
You can see how well it turned out, the new HID’s are a night & day difference, making night driving much safer and more enjoyable in the Duster. This kit will work on any standard 7″ sealed beam headlight. This premium kit has our dual-capsule HID bulbs and our heavy duty ballasts to crank out twice as much power as our standard kit. When you switch from low beam to high beam, the low beam remains on without any loss of power and the high beam fires up to literally double the light output.
I will add some night pictures soon to really demonstrate the difference!
