2009 Dealer Expo Show!
March 23rd, 2009 by Scott (General Manager)2009 Dealer Expo Show!
Scott, our General Manager, Laura, our Operations Manager, Eric, from Research and Development and Trent, Technical Sales all packed up and headed into frigid nine degree weather. In addition to arctic shock, we also enjoyed long work days and sleepless nights…. Why? To attend the biggest blow-out-bash industry show of the year of course!
The 09’ Dealer Expo Show was once again held at the gigantic Indianapolis Convention Center AND the Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis Indiana. This show is so big, it takes TWO huge facilities to accommodate the amount of vendors, dealers and distributors that were on hand showing off their latest innovations in the Power Sports Industry.
So, while the weather was freezing, the show was HOT! The vendor list read like a Who’s Who of the Motor Sports Industry. Everything and anything that you can image related to Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, Dirt Bikes, Street Bikes, Quads, ATV’s, Off Road Trucks, Motor-Homes, etc… was there. Vendors displaying everything from helmets to electric motorcycles were there in force.
Our booth this year was amazing. It was four times the size of last year’s booth and was located in the perfect spot to catch attendee’s attention, right in the center of the vendor area. And, the added space of the bigger booth provided us the perfect opportunity to show off our newest products including an incredible HID motorcycle lighting display. It was easy to spot our booth from just about anywhere in the convention center. All you had to do was look for the bright white glow emanating from the six HID motorcycle lights that we installed above our visitors kiosk. These lights are so bright, some of our closer neighbors politely asked us to turn them off or aim them up at the ceiling because they were going blind. Oops…
In addition to displaying our HID lights, Motorcycle Ignition components (Stators, Regular-Rectifiers, Ignition Coils etc…) we also showed off our complete line of Acewell Speedometers. There beauties are waterproof and, as part of our display, we have a pair of fish tanks, each with a fully submerged speedometer all lit up and working like a champ. Some folks were so impressed with the fact that the Acewell speedometers are so water tight that they can survive being submerged in a fish tank; they asked to purchase our display units following the show!
We were also privileged to be able to display not one, but two brand new Service Honda Dirt Bikes featuring our ignition components and Acewell Speedo’s. The Bailey replica CR-500 drew non-stop attention from the moment we rolled it onto the carpet to when the lights went out at the end of the show.
In addition to getting to rub shoulders with some of our current industry customers, we also got to meet a ton on new dealers and distributors. Here’s a pic of some Parts Unlimited Reps checking out our new products
What was really fun, was when each of us got a chance to wander around the convention center, checking out the other suppliers booths. This is an ideal way to make new contacts and develop new supplier-relationships with people that we need to supply our R&D team with the raw material they use to develop new and innovative products.
I can’t spill the beans here, but trust me when I say; we have some really cool stuff just around the corner. J
But the show wasn’t all work, we had some fun too. In addition to enjoying some amazing Midwestern corn-fed steaks, we also managed to do a little sight seeing wile we were there. (Speaking of beef… Ask Trent about our experience with the ONE POUND Hamburger’s they were serving up over at Champions…
Once it was all said and done, the show was a tremendous success and one that we are already looking forward to for next year!
Here are a few random pics from the show. Enjoy!
