HID Lights in Service Honda Junior R

October 7th, 2008 by Eric (R&D)

I just finished up putting an ElectroSport HID2 lighting kit on a Service Honda Junior R.  This bike is pretty cool.  It is a CRF250R motor stuck into a 150 frame.  We used one of our ESL960 stators, a Dakar battery, and a ESR600 regulator/rectifier to power the light.  The headlight shell is one of our Dakar lights with the HID upgrade.

This picture is straight from the camera…

As you can see, these lights are stupid bright.  Even better, these come in an optional 2 lamp bulb.  Two HID lights in a single bulb!  This install was with a single lamp only due to the small motor’s stator.  The ballasts are really compact and fit so well that you barely notice they are there.

The battery and regulator/rectifier fits into the airbox.  The stator is a direct plug and play part.  Everything just plugs in and works.  The battery needs about 2500 rpm to stay charged, which should be no problem.

Compared to a standard halogen bulb… honestly, there is no comparison.  A good quality halogen is still like a candle compared to these.

Keep an eye out… we have some pretty neat HID conversion kits coming soon.
