Suzuki GS750 – Therapy for a Motorcycle Addict

September 30th, 2008 by Eric (R&D)

I am a motorcycle addict.  I really should get some professional help but this addiction is also my therapy.

My latest therapy session is in the form of a 1980 GS750E.  When the opportunity came along to build a Suzuki GS, I jumped.  I really like Suzuki’s bikes.  My last one was a Hayabusa… worked over of course.  Ohlins shocks, motorwork, etc.  Let’s just say… um… well it would stomp just about anything… straight line or twisty.  I had a turbo ready to put in but had to sell it because my wife got really sick.  So another Suzuki?  Yup… sounds like fun.

My love affair with street bikes goes back a long time.  I’m only 33 but, have had quite a few bikes and have a lot of miles under my belt…

The Dragon

September 30th, 2008 by Ritzo (CEO)

I was told that I should ride “The Dragon”. This is a road on the west side of the Smokey’s considered to be the best ride in the area. So after saying goodbye to my neighbors I headed out of the campground and I had to backtrack quite a ways to get on the Foothills Parkway.

The Smokey’s: Rain, and Whisky

Tennessee roads

Tennessee roads

After an uneventful morning ride I stopped in a little town at an outdoor/adventure store. I had been cold at night in my 20 degree sleeping bag, and I had promised myself that if I were to run unto a place where they had good sleeping bags I’d buy a warmer one. So they mailed my old bag back to Oceanside, together with the Airhawk seat cushion that I did not end up needing and I bought a new 10 degree mummy bag…. Much better!

Kentucky/Tennessee History and a Great Musical

September 27th, 2008 by Ritzo (CEO)

I had been camping out in the “Land between the Lakes”, and within a few miles after taking to the road this morning I was having a really good time curving through the landscape.

I saw a sign pointing to a bison/elk field, and was keen on checking it out; unfortunately no motorcycles were allowed in… Ah well!

Turbocharged GSXR-1100 @ 186 Miles Per Hour! (300KPH)

September 26th, 2008 by Scott (General Manager)
YouTube Preview Image

Here’s a quick video of me on the way to the office…

Not really… I’ve got the good sense to NEVER run the camera when I am hustling to the office… No incriminating evidence :-)

Check out this riding enthusiast as he routinely introduces his front tire to the sky at 300 KPH as indicated by our Acewell 3900 Series Speedometer mounted on his turbocharged GSXR 1100.

If your riding style tends to lean towards the sporting end of things and you’ve come to the realization that your stock instrument cluster just can’t cut it… I’ve got the solution to your troubles. ElectroSport is North America’s Distributor for the entire line of Acewell motorsports speedometer computers… and I know one of them is sure to match your riding style perfectly.

Here’s a link to the model seen in the video: Acewell 3900 Series Speedometer.

PS… Please don’t ride like this on open roads… That’s what track days are for.

Kentucky

September 26th, 2008 by Ritzo (CEO)

I woke up to rain outside on the tent. Hmm… Checked the weather forecast with the Blackberry for the area (where would we be without these things) and found that it should be clearing up around 8AM.

And sure enough: around that time the rain had passed and the sun was out again! :-)

I started my ride at like 9AM. Another beautiful day; life is good! Woohoo! The eastern part of Missouri along highway 60 mainly consists of hilly green fields with lots of trees. Nice!

Streetfighter SV650

September 25th, 2008 by Marcus (Digital Media)

So when I was given the opportunity to escape from behind my monitor, and get my hands dirty working on this SV650, naturally I jumped at the opportunity. I have always had a thing for naked bikes, and streetfighters have a whole other attitude to them.

Luckily for us we had the bike loaned to us by some one in the Army who was going to be on deployment for 15 months. That gave us plenty of time to get everything perfect. After all, if he’s out there risking his life for my freedom, he should get nothing less than perfection!

Harley Davidson Electra Glide HID Headlight Conversion

September 25th, 2008 by Eric (R&D)

So, Anaheim-Fullerton Harley dropped off a new Harley Davidson Electra Glide for us to test fit our new HID headlight kit.  This is really exciting because these HID kits are awesome!  The amount of light they put out… well, it is like bolting the sun to the front of your bike.  Seriously.  I really wish that I could be a fly on the wall of the service department when they get this kit installed…

The Ozarks

September 25th, 2008 by Ritzo (CEO)

This morning I took it easy. I got a somewhat late start because I could. I have about 650 miles ahead of me and need to arrive some time in the afternoon on Sunday. This leaves me 4.5 days and that means I have plenty of time to do some sightseeing until Sunday.

So today after only 100 miles I pulled into Big Springs, which is managed by the National Park Service. On the way up I marked 2,000 miles on the trip meter. :-)

O.E.M. Ignition Leave You Dead?

September 24th, 2008 by Scott (General Manager)

We’ve all been there…stranded miles from civilization with a motorcycle that won’t start as a result of a weak OEM ignition.

That sick feeling begins to sink in as you realize that you will have to either push your beloved scoot to the nearest town. Or worse… leave it on the side of the road and pray that nobody “buzzard picks” it while you are trying to get help.
